
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Executive Vice Chancellor Administration and Finance or designee, the Deputy Executive Vice Chancellor, Facilities Management has overall responsibility for developing and maintaining UMass Chan’s real estate portfolio, including those external properties that foster, support and promote the University and UMass Chan. This includes new construction/expansion, capital renovations/improvements, and the day-to-day facilities operations. This position shall also consult with the Executive Vice Chancellor Administration and Finance and UMass Chan’s Office of Management on property acquisitions. UMass Chan’s real estate strategy shall integrate all aspects of the real estate and facilities operations into a cohesive plan that provides for the long-term growth needs of the organization while also achieving the carbon reduction and sustainability goals of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The position demands both short and long-term vision, necessary for decision-making which will affect how the organization’s real estate strategy serves and supports the campus now and in the future. In addition, the position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of buildings and grounds, assures the optimal functioning of building systems including power, mechanical, fire / life safety, etc. Oversees the Department of Environmental Health & Safety; implementing programs to ensure a safe working environment at all times. The Deputy EVC, Facilities Management solicits bids, awards bids and oversees contractors for facility renovation and/ or expansion projects.
