GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under general supervision of the Manager of Audio-Visual Services, the Audio-Visual Technician provides technical expertise and unique solutions with audio-visual related technology to multiple constituencies with a broad institutional impact.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise, train, and provide on-site and remote technical support to faculty, staff, students and guest lecturers with audio-visual equipment, streaming services, video conferencing, and general production.
- Troubleshoot various equipment malfunctions.
- Provides guidance and recommend solutions based on technology requirements and limitations.
- Design, develop, and update training and knowledgebase materials/documentation.
- Develop and conduct training workshops for specific audio-visual related use cases.
- Operate pro-grade audio and video equipment.
- Schedule, deliver, set-up, operate and retrieve audio-visual equipment.
- Assist with organizing events; maintains event schedule.
- Provide quality video and/or audio production services.
- Maintains inventory of all audio-visual equipment.
- Verifying audio-visual equipment in all rooms is functioning as installed.
- Utilize ServiceNow to support tracking of work.
- Evaluate technology trends inside and outside of the University.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree in Audio-Visual, Communications, Media, or equivalent years of experience in a related field.
- 5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrate experience with various hardware and software video conferencing platforms.
- Demonstrate understanding of signal flow, distributed audio/video, and multi-room systems.
- Computer and network literate.
- Able to work under pressure, independently, and within a team, in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing to work extended hours when required.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Solid interpersonal skills; ability to work well with people, their expertise, and organizational relationships.
- Ability to travel to off-site locations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CTS, CTS-I and/or CTS-D Certification
- Crestron Digital Media Certification – DMC-E
- Working knowledge of Crestron. Biamp, ClearOne, Extron, Shure, Cisco codecs and other audio-visual related equipment.
