GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Sr Director or designee, the Environmental Building Services Assistant Mgr. has direct responsibility for all EBS functions performed in assigned areas of the Medical School, and outlying buildings.  Asst Mgr. will direct all assigned personnel to assure customer satisfaction and optimal cleanliness as established within prescribed standards for assigned areas.    

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Direct supervision of employees assigned: prepares daily assignment schedules, assign tasks, prepare work schedule for subordinates to maintain adequate services of assigned areas using computerize maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Responsible for equipment/materials used by assigned employees in performing duties.
• Inspect all equipment used in assigned areas for proper functioning/cleanliness.
• Report needed repairs immediately.
• Tour assigned areas, checking flow, quality/quantity of work being performed.
• Perform quality control inspections.
• Responsible to ensure problems such as personnel, Union related, work flow, etc., and coordinates solutions.               
• Assist with interview, hire, evaluate and recommend termination of housekeeping staff in accordance with facility standards and HR practices and procedures.
• Show concern for work area, take initiative to solve problems
• Adapt to various situations, including those of an emergency nature such as floods, fires, major spills, etc.
• Consistently complete assignments with minimal supervision; courteous to patients, visitors, etc.
• Train, coach, and assist new and established employees on refining proper procedure and area assignments necessary.
• Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 2 - 4 years of related experience
• Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and practices essential to the cleaning of buildings.
• Considerable knowledge of types, properties, qualities and uses of cleaning supplies and equipment as well as their effect on various types of contraction and finishes.
• Ability to train, supervise, and instruct employees and others in cleaning and building custodial operations.
• Ability to maintain simple records, make reports, follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of supervision.
• Knowledge of proper care and maintenance of equipment utilized.
• Demonstrated progressive growth in the field of health care housekeeping & facility maintenance.
• Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Valid drivers license
