POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the direct supervision of the Director or designee, the Carpenter/Locksmith, performs installations, repairs, modifications and maintenance of walls, doors, window jams, flooring, ceilings, cabinets, locks and any associated hardware.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:           

Carpentry Repair and Preventive Maintenance

• Install repairs, modifies, and maintains walls, doors, window jams, flooring, ceilings, cabinets, door hardware etc. Construct laminate covered cabinetry and install these and other forms of pre-manufactured cabinetry. Layout and install doors as in masonry and drywall partitions
• Repair expansion joints and portable furniture
• Perform minor improvement upgrades, preventive maintenance activities
• Perform building inspections

Lock Repair and Preventative Maintenance

• Troubleshoot locking hardware for doors, safes, cabinets, electronic badge access devices, security and door alarms etc.
• Repair or replace strike plates and electronic lock hardware
• Update locking mechanisms and recommend replacement of door locking devices                                                                                           

Maintenance Support

• Use “computerize management system to assign work effort AFSCME DRAFT job description"
• Aid in the performance of routine duties, perform all work associated with all maintenance trades of an equal or lower graded classification where the work or task does not require a specific license                
• Maintain records
• Perform tasks related to storing of parts, equipment, and supplies maintained by Grounds Department

Facilities Maintenance

•  Assist in snow removal and campus emergencies                

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:               

• Technical School or equivalent
• Bonded Locksmith
• Must obtain within 6 months SRA clearance (Security Risk Assessment)"
• 1 year of Journeyman level carpentry experience
• 1 year of professional locksmith experience
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and schematics
• Proficient with Microsoft office
• Ability to travel to offsite locations
