Under the general direction of the Manager of Communication Technologies or designee, the Audio Visual Engineer will provide expertise to the University of Massachusetts community in the selection, design, and Implementation of audiovisual, sound, and cabling systems as well as troubleshooting existing equipment. They will also provide on-site customer support for events, meetings, classes and events.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the successful and profitable design, integration, and support of multiple mission-critical and high profile integrated audiovisual, videoconferencing and broadcast projects
- Configure, install, and maintain classroom multi-media presentation systems, and participate in the design, purchase, construction, and operation of video conferencing systems that include codecs, cameras, computers, and display systems.
- Test, review and asses types of equipment required to facilitate University projects and events and recommend equipment changes and purchases
- Responsible for sound production, video recording, and lighting engineering
- Thorough understanding of audiovisual testing methodologies and quality assurance
- Maintain video, audio, photographic, and multimedia production and presentation equipment including; but, not limited to, television, photographic, and audio studio systems
- Provide consultation and recommendations to clients in preparation for upcoming events. Assess, configure, and implement technology needs.
- Coordinate audiovisual projects. Meet with customers to develop and implement presentations
- Mentoring and assists existing and future technical staff members is required
- Acknowledge and resolve user service requests utilizing the service request management system
- Broad application of standard principles, concepts and techniques, including working knowledge of related fields, toward the identification and resolution of user problems
- Provide resolution to a diverse range of complex problems
- Preparation and presentation of troubleshooting documentation via Help Desk FAQs
- Performs other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Science, or equivalent experience
- 3 years audiovisual technology experience
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience on current and emerging audio and video technologies
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge and experience in higher education/trading floor/video conference room setup
- Strong liaison and negotiation skills with client, AV vendors and contractors
- Able to work under pressure and fast-paced environment, willing to work extended hours
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to travel to off-site locations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of Cisco, Polycom,Tandberg, Crestron, AMX, ClearOne, BiAmp, Extron systems etc.
- CTS qualification is preferred (audio visual qualification from ICIA)
- Excellent Customer Service Skills and Communication
