GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

We're seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and positive graduate intern to join our Data Science & Technology (DST) division to launch our next generation of Research Patient Web Portal at the University Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS).  This individual will be a member of the Clinical Research Operation Informatics team with the goal of ensuring quality deliverables that achieve customer satisfaction.

This intern will work with clinical research teams to translate complex clinical trial information into marketing ready content for the general public.  In addition, this intern will also be part of the team that manages the web content.  He / She will work with other team members in the design and development of software applications that support the demands of UMMS clinical research customer needs.  The position requires individuals to be detail oriented, organized, independent, innovative and talented.

Projects will be supervised by Directors, and other IT manager & staff, with the opportunity to interact with clinical researchers, physician faculty, and other IT team members.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Utilize innovative ideas and approaches to assist in the development of working models to serve the needs of our faculty, students and researchers
  • Complete a project from start to finish and write-up and present the work product to the UMass community
  • Participate in team projects
  • Conduct online research
  • Perform other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student in a higher education institution or recent graduate
  • Solid analytical and communication skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to collect and record information from a wide variety of sources
  • Must be reliable and able to set consistent work hours
  • Proven interest in IT and passion in furthering the mission of UMMS
  • Must have above average academic performance

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree candidate in marketing communication, biomedical sciences or related field
  • Experience with Web based technologies and marketing tactics
  • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written forms
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding the basics of clinical research activities & patient recrument
  • Prior UX/UI experience
  • Knowledge of collection and analytics of web based metrics
