GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Administrator/ Director, or designee, the Educational Programs Specialist is responsible for coordinating curriculum scheduling, collaborating with instructors to design, implement, and assess multi-modal medical simulation.   The Education Specialist II serves as a front line customer service interface to UMMS faculty as well as to external clients.  They are responsible for producing technical and training documentation, administering training environments, providing multimedia support and productionin the interprofessional Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (iCELS).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and sustain strong relationships between iCELS, existing clients and potential clients
  • Triage complex client requests and potential client inquiries to ensure that business operations are optimized
  • Screen and review applications, recommend participants, and plans  new employee informational sessions, auditions, and onboarding
  • Manage customer facing  webpage updates, including registration links, and resources valuable to meet client/user needs
  • Manage details of educational programming, including per diem staff assignments, faculty facilitator assignments, space, and equipment reservations to meet client requests and learning objectives
  • Determine technology requirements including video recording, data reporting and scoring
  • Demonstrate optimized bi-directional communication with UMMS collaborative departments and external customers to produce desired session and data outcomes
  • Translate and convert learning materials into requirements for training resources, equipment needs and material setup for onsite training and offsite events ensuring education objectives are met
  • Disseminate training materials for offsite events in collaboration with clients
  • Manage real-time education program delivery to meet all scheduled and expected objectives
  • Initiate discussion and development of quality improvement initiatives in order to optimize workflows
  • Responsible for office and program operations
  • Initiate agenda for program development meetings including recommendations for scope of curriculum and resource requirements
  • Understand and act on client needs for case phenotype assignments, per diem staff recruitment and scheduling
  • Design materials for training sessions in collaboration with faculty and director(s)
  • Schedule multi-faceted, multi-modal events
  • Multi-task and manage events in fast-paced educational environment
  • Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 1 year experience in an academic healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent and autonomous decisions
  • Attention to detail
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products; including an understanding of relational databases
  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve
  • Ability to travel to offsite locations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in medical educations
  • Knowledge of medical simulation
