POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP - TUMOR/CANCER STEM-CELL BIOLOGY/IMMUNOTHERAPY

A Post-doctoral position is open to study interactions between cancer stem cells and the immune microenvironment as well as novel therapeutic targeting strategies incorporating small molecules, epigenetic inhibitors and other approaches. Our laboratory works to define and target pathways regulating the development, drug resistance, and metastasis of pediatric solid tumors. A primary focus is neuroblastoma, a neural crest tumor of young children and a major cause of pediatric cancer mortality. There are also opportunities to work on molecular structure function relationships of the MYCN oncogene using cutting edge approaches at UMass Medical Center.  A major focus will be evaluation of tumor responses to immune-checkpoint inhibition and other immunomodulatory interventions in immunocompetent tumor models. Our laboratory is affiliated with the Molecular, Cellular and Cancer Biology (MCCB) Program, the AVATAR mouse project, and the Cancer Biology at UMass Medical School, and has access to all the extensive resources at the school as well as with collaborators throughout the Boston area.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PhD required.  We are searching for a productive and motivated Post-doctoral fellow with experience using a wide range of analytic approaches as well as expertise in in vitro tumor assays to join a translational biology laboratory. We are looking for a team player with excellent communication and collaborative skills. Experience with design and execution of in vivo drug testing in PDX and xenograft models as well as familiarity with flow cytometry and cell sorting methodologies is required.  Experience in genomics, epigenetics and single cell molecular analysis will be helpful.  The optimal candidate will have experience with all aspects of eukaryotic tissue culture and drug response assays including quantification of DNA damage, apoptosis and proliferation.
