GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

 

Under the direction of the Executive Director of the CFM, this Learning Specialist Coordinator provides ongoing teacher formation and competency assessment, supportive learning processes, and ongoing mentorship services for teachers and teachers-in-training across all CFM revenue-generating, and research driven educational programs, including the Stress Reduction Program (SRP), Oasis Institute professional education and training programs (OI), and Evolve (E) worksite and community wellness programs. This position functions as a cohesive bridge linking all CFM education and training programs through the development, implementation, and monitoring of teacher competency aimed at insuring rigorous instructional and program fidelity and coherent, research-based assessment criteria across all CFM education and training initiatives. In this capacity, oversees the administrative and operational aspects of the SRP while teaching in the SRP, OI, and other CFM programs as needed.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Teacher Formation Plans for MBSR teachers in-training working within the Stress Reduction Program (SRP),
  • Develop and implement Individualized Teacher Formation Plans and training curricula for MBSR teachers and trainees within Oasis Institute (OI) and Evolve (E) programs,
  • Formally assess all CFM teacher and teacher trainees in order to identify areas of strength and specific learning needs,
  • Interface with international colleagues in the UK on the use and refinement of the Mindfulness-Based Interventions Teacher Criteria Assessment (MBI-TAC) protocol,
  • Develop and implement, manage and disseminate scholarly work detailing CFM assessment and training protocols to the global MBI community,
  • Prepare and implement targeted tutorials, multidisciplinary workshops, and lectures for OI teacher trainees,
  • Insure assessment competency and high inter-rater reliability among all senior CFM teachers using the MBI-TAC,
  • Hold regular office hours to mentor trainees in person and online,
  • Participate in all meetings pertinent to the educational work of the CFM at UMMS and extramurally,
  • Begin to explore the development of a Master’s Degree program in mindfulness studies at UMMS,
  • Teach MBSR and other programs for the CFM as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MEd, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of tutorial experience with post- secondary learners in a multifaceted academic health center
  • Direct hands-on learning and mentoring skills and experience with students
  • 2-4 years of departmental management and administration in higher education
  • Experience working with a diverse population
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Effective supervisory skills
  • 3-5 years of consistent delivery of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) training with specific training and practice in mindfulness meditation, including extended, intensive silent meditation training retreats
  • Certified MBSR teacher

Please note that the range provided reflects the full base salary range for this position. Offers are typically made within the midrange to allow for future growth and development within the role.
