POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Learning & OD Consultant plays a key role in the Human Resources Office of People and Organizational Development at UMass Chan Medical School. The position is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating development programs and content for UMass Chan. The Senior Learning & OD Consultant brings innovative examples of learning and development practices in program and training design and delivery. Contributes to team projects that support the organizations development such as creating organization-wide learning content and supporting special initiatives.
The Senior Learning & OD Consultant builds relationships with assigned UMass Chan leaders and internal client groups to understand their OD needs and develop and deliver tailored curriculum. Collaborative team member who provides high-quality, engaging instructor-led learning to employees at all levels of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop tailored learning programs and initiatives and OD solutions based on best practices and UMass Chan development needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement engaging learning experiences for employees at all levels of the organization in various delivery formats including on the job, digital learning, virtual reality and instructor-led learning, including but not limited to new hires, future and current leaders and high potential employees.
- Optimize the UMass Chan training portfolio by designing and delivering specialized / targeted professional development programs / courses for leaders, managers, and professional staff.
- Partner with leaders and HR colleagues to proactively assess development needs and builds creative and consistent ways to address them across organization, department, and individual levels.
- Provide input into the Human Resources people and organizational development strategies recommending options and solutions.
- Facilitate engaging in-person, virtual, and blended learning sessions, and workshops; Ensure project leads, Trainers, and designated coworkers preparedness for leading, facilitating, and supporting capability building initiatives.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, teams, and subject matter experts to implement and maintain multimedia-based instructional materials such as web-based training courses, videos, quick reference guides, and instructor and participant guides.
- Prioritizes a multi-facet approach (e.g., 70/20/10 model) that supports business and people strategies through the development of core capabilities and competencies.
- Prepare learning / training literature, manuals, and materials for each learning experience.
- Evaluate the quality of training courses and implement improvements.
- Assist with the provision of OD methods and tools.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelors degree in human resources, organizational development, adult learning or a related field is required.
- 8+ plus years of progressive Leadership/Org Development/Learning and Development experience, or related experience
- Excellent knowledge of training processes and procedures.
- Outstanding presentation, facilitation, interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
- Extensive experience creating and delivering development programs and courses in multiple modalities, including in person and live-online using a variety of technologies.
- Deep knowledge of adult learning theories and methodologies, change theories and industry best practices with the ability to apply them to instructional design and learning assessment.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills to assess organizational learning training needs & recommend solutions.
- Intermediate to expert level experience working with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Zoom, and LMS systems.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to drive initiatives from inception to completion.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree in organizational development, adult learning or relevant field is preferred.
- Certification from the American Society for Training and Development or similar organization
