GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Principle Investigator, the Postdoctoral Associate works in medical research and education programs that promote the individual's professional growth, support goals toward an externally funded independent program of research, and development as a collaborative and productive member of an interdisciplinary research team.
The Fang laboratory employs a wide range of tools including molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology, functional genomics, and single-molecule imaging to investigate RNA recognition in microRNA biogenesis and innate immunity, and their relevance to human health.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct experimental research in multiple project areas
- Conceive, design, and conduct research experiments
- Analyze and synthesize results
- Write and collaborate on scholarly papers, research reports, white papers, and conference materials
- Communicate research findings verbally and in writing to team members, collaborators and funders
- Apply, adapt, and comment on research
- Assist in planning, conducting and contributing appropriately to scholarly conferences, panel presentations, and academic exchanges
- Work sensitively with confidential information, maintain research compliance, and preserve documents, data, and research materials in organized physical and electronic file system
- Assist as requested in hiring, training and/or supervising research staff
- Perform other duties as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, cell biology or related fields, or MD.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience with research and data analysis programs
- Excellent command of verbal and written English
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to analyze complex visual data in a quantitative and objective manner.
- Judgment and action skills required to solve commonly encountered problems
