POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the general direction of the Vice Provost for Educational Affairs or designee, the Financial Aid Director is responsible for managing the federal, state and institutional financial aid programs for students. The Director also is responsible for loan repayment for graduates of the Medical School, Graduate School of Nursing and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The Director ensures compliance with all financial aid regulations and generates official reports to appropriate agencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages and supervises all financial aid processes for awarding student loans, grants, and scholarship packages
  • Develops and monitors the Financial Aid Office budget including personnel needs, departmental operating expenses
  • Develops student costs of attendance (individual student budgets) including tuition, books, fees, room and board etc.
  • Interprets and applies federal laws and regulations; institutional policies and regulations;HRSA regulations; and state regulations relating to the delivery of student financial assistance;
  • Oversees all administrative functions of the Financial Aid Office by supervising, providing ongoing professional development opportunities, and evaluating all employees
  • Maintains College’s Financial Aid data to assure timely and accurate submission of required federal, state, local reports; and publishing to the University financial aid website
  • Develops and directs financial aid strategies within the framework of federal and state regulations that are consistent with the enrollment management objectives of the institution and by administering financial aid and scholarships that support student recruitment and retention including the creation of packaging formulas to determine need-based aid packages and the awarding of donor scholarships in accordance with donor agreements
  • Oversees the current Financial Aid information systems including PowerFAIDS, NetPartner, PeopleSoft
  • Organizes and conducts exit interviews.
  • Attends professional meetings.
  • Generates appropriate analyses, reports and presentations as necessary for executive leaders
  • Serves as a resource and offer expertise to managers and staff regarding financial aid topics
  • Serve as a member of the Enrollment Management committee to offer expert advice and guidance for enrollment management initiatives
  • Supervise and provide guidance to the Financial Wellness program
  • Oversee financial aid staff to ensure high levels of customer service and student satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible management experience in financial aid administration in a higher education setting.
  • Strong database management skills (EXCEL, ACCESS, etc.) and technology skills required, including experience with integrated financial aid/student information systems.
  • Strong proficiency in POWERFAIDS and MICROSOFT OFFICE required.
  • Proven administration, critical thinking, and problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in graduate school setting preferred.

Please note that the range provided reflects the full base salary range for this position. Offers are typically made within the midrange to allow for future growth and development within the role.
