GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under general supervision of the Manager of Audio Visual Services or designee, the Student Audio Visual Technician performs a variety of duties including onsite support of course sessions, setup and operations of Audio Visual equipment, ability to troubleshoot software/hardware, maintain supported locations, and possible opportunities for remote support. Works independently and participates in classes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Onsite support of course sessions. Being ready in-room 15-30 mins before the start of class.
  • Verifying the equipment in room is functioning as needed.
  • Making sure content is shared and displayed correctly.
  • Field Q&A as applicable. Vocally prompting faculty to respond to chat and questions.
  • First line of support for technology issues.
  • Advises and assists faculty, staff, and guest lecturers regarding Zoom, audio visual equipment, Echo360 (when applicable), or any other presentation technology.
  • Contact IT Staff when unable to resolve issue or with questions.
  • Requires solid desktop knowledge, familiarity with Windows, Mac, and MS Office environments. 
  • Requires superior listening, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effectively communicate with students, faculty, co-workers, and management.
  • Experience with Zoom, MS TEAMS, Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Clearone, ECHO360, WebEx, and other Audio Visual equipment/platforms a plus.
  • Remote support of course/class session if course/class is all remote.
  • Recommend additional equipment or services as appropriate and based on need.
  • Working alongside and collaborating with Classroom Technology Assistant’s (CTA’s) and Audio Visual staff.
  • Class Scheduling: This is a shared role in which at least 1 and no more than 2 AV students must be available and committed to support all classes. Schedules should be worked out and coordinated between the students to make sure instructors are supported for all classes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with Audio Visual equipment
  • Verbal and written communication competency.
  • Solid interpersonal skills-- ability to work well with both students and faculty.
