GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Director, Informatics & Analytics, the Manager of Informatics & Analytics is responsible for overseeing all activities related to the UMass Chan Medical Schools financial applications as well as performing other duties and projects as assigned. This includes maintenance of system tables and configuration, establishment of processes and procedures, development of systems and reporting, and user support. The Manager of Informatics & Analytics will also manage changes to financial systems, determining requirements, coordinating activities at the campus level and representing the campus at the University level. The Manager of Financial Information Systems supervises the Informatics & Analytics staff and coordinate with other Administration & Finance staff and end users in their activities related to maintaining and using the systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of all financial systems, with responsibility for:
- Functional system configuration and maintenance
- Support of system operations including interfaces and processes
- Design, development, testing and implementation of upgrades, new modules and new systems
- Query and report development
- Review and administration of system security
- Coordination of system and process documentation
- User training
- User support
- Manage the Informatics & Analytics staff
- Establish campus level standards and procedures to ensure the integrity of the systems and data
- Monitor compliance with campus and University standards and procedures to ensure the integrity of the systems and data
- Coordinate and participate in identification, evaluation and prioritization of finance system needs and the development of solutions
- Work with staff at all levels of the institution to gather business requirements and translate those requirements into systems-based solutions
- Develop training and other materials and communications to instruct and inform users at all levels on system changes and how to use the finance systems
- Leverage business intelligence & analytics tools for continuous process improvement
- Represent the Worcester campus in multi-campus and University wide systems projects
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in business administration, finance, information systems or related field, or equivalent
- 10 years progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting operations
- 7 years demonstrated experience working with financial systems, including system development, implementation and support
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities
- Ability to think creatively and analyze data from new perspectives
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with staff at all levels of the organization
- Excellent oral and written communications skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
