This internship program will begin Monday June 6th and will end Friday, August 12th. The pay is $16/hour and the position is expected to be full-time over those 10 weeks. This will be an onsite internship.
About Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) at UMass Chan Medical School
The Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) is a paid internship experience for talented college students. Individuals historically underrepresented in STEM, health science and medicine are strongly encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to students that identify from one of the following underrepresented groups in STEM, health science and medicine: Black/African Americans, Hispanic or Latinx, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and other Pacific Islanders, individuals with a disability or the first in their family to attend college, are also strongly encourage to apply.

Position: Marketing Intern
Description/Background: The UMass Chan Medical School Office of Communications seeks a summer intern who is interested in learning from an experienced team of marketing and communications professionals and contributing to the office’s work. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about learning how a professional marketing and communications team fulfills its mission to tell the story of UMass Chan Medical School, primarily by highlighting the achievements of faculty and focusing on health and science topics, and graduate students in the medical, biomedical research and nursing fields. The marketing intern will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of strategic marketing and communications team meetings and discussions; shadow professionals engaged in a variety of roles (including enrollment marketing, digital strategy, social media and data analytics); gain insight into the goals and responsibilities of a professional marketing and communications operation; and create their own content in collaboration with and under the supervision of members of the Office of Communications.
The Office of Communications is a busy, collegial, and collaborative professional environment, with a mission to promote the work and accomplishments of UMass Chan Medical School faculty, students and staff. Interested students may learn more by visiting UMassChan News and its social media channels, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
The 2022 marketing intern will be a hybrid position, with some working hours in-person at UMass Chan Medical School's campus, located in Worcester, MA, and some working hours performed remotely. Work will be supervised by marketing professionals.
Requirements: Experience or demonstrated interest in at least one of the following areas is required: marketing, writing, professional social media, graphic design/visual arts, website content development or photography/videography.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce content for the UMMS news website, UMassMedNow, as well as the institution’s social media channels.
- Additional work opportunities include gaining insight into admissions marketing and taking photos.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates pursuing bachelor’s degree or recent graduates
- Related experience preferred
- Must be reliable and able to set consistent work hours
- Ability to use standard office tools and software (MS-Office)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in at least one of the following areas is required: journalism, marketing, writing, professional social media, graphic design/visual arts, interviewing, website content development or photography/videography.

Please note that the range provided reflects the full base salary range for this position. Offers are typically made within the midrange to allow for future growth and development within the role.
