GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:  

The Curriculum Director in the TH Chan School of Medicine will serve as a member of the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (OUME) team and report directly to the Assistant Dean for Foundational Curriculum. The Curriculum Director will play a pivotal role in collaborating with faculty and educational staff across the curriculum with a focus on academic and operational processes including curriculum mapping, pedagogy, and skills development across all years of UME.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with key faculty leaders, curriculum committees and curriculum stakeholders to build and maintain our curriculum database
  • Identify and define critical curricular learning objectives and outcomes in collaboration with key faculty and leadership, align curriculum and assessment to demonstrate these
  • Support the development and implementation of multiple methods for curriculum delivery to enhance diverse curriculum delivery and student learning
  • Collaborate with OUME leadership and faculty to manage curriculum calendar
  • Prepare faculty or other professionals to create and implement innovative educational experiences in the UME curriculum utilizing institutional and individually created resources
  • Participate in ongoing and periodic accreditation efforts including LCME and NEASC (including resident as teacher, curriculum mapping and reporting)
  • Collaborate with OUME staff to establish and maintain program websites
  • Participate in grant writing, management, and reporting
  • Draft annual OUME report
  • Functional supervision of support staff in their roles relevant to curriculum planning and logistics
  • Participate in decisions related to office structure, budget, staffing and supervision
  • Use appropriate technology in support of all functions
  • Adhere to University, State, and funding agency regulations
  • Perform other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree, MEd or comparable, or 5 years of demonstrated relevant experience and leadership in higher education
  • Familiarity with common and task specific technology for document creation, information sharing and data collection and analysis education support and delivery (currently including Microsoft suite, Blackboard, Learning Space, PeopleSoft, OASIS, Turning Point, EPiServer)
  • Excellent communication, data analysis, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex projects, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to changing priorities and needs required with professionalism, diplomacy, and composure

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate or Medical Education curriculum management and/or faculty development experience
  • Web fluency
