
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bosco laboratory at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School has an open position for a Research Associate. Our laboratory is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative (www.boscolab.com). We are located in the state-of-the-art Albert Sherman Center for translational science at the University Campus in Worcester, MA. Our research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, with a focus on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Our model systems include mouse models and cells (e.g., neurons and microglia) derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Our lab also utilizes biochemical and biophysical approaches to understand how disease-causing mutations affect protein structure and function at the molecular level.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or Designee, the Research Associate I performs a variety of complex research experiments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

MS and/or BS/BA in the biological or physical sciences
Experience working with molecular biology, including RNA/DNA processing, sterile-culture techniques and/or animal handling.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, or designee
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May functionally supervise Lab Technicians and Aides
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Wet chemistry laboratory, and may require appropriate contact with biohazards, radionuclides, toxins, animals, and human specimens.
This position will begin April 1, 2022.
