POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Talent Acquisition & Engagement or designee, the Senior Talent Associate will be responsible for performing complex and varied duties to complete the successful hiring and onboarding of Post-Doctoral Associates, Visiting Scholars, Specialty hiring and other types of positions.  This position requires advanced communication, customer service, organization, multi-tasking, follow-up, and computer skills.  This individual will work in a fast-paced environment that will need to use a high degree of independent action and judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as primary contact for hiring Post-Doctoral Associates, Visiting Scholars, Post Retirees and specialty hires.
  • Responsible for delivering full-cycle recruitment efforts for hiring Post-Doctoral researchers from requisition approvals, job postings, offer development, onboarding including Ph.D. degree verifications, background checks and maintaining compliant records and following university policy and procedures. 
  • Collaborate with the hiring manager in creating and posting Post-Doctoral Associates position descriptions.
  • Facilitate the hiring and on boarding of staff types according to UMMS policies and guidelines.
  • Partner with Compensation, Immigration Services, Office of Post-doctoral Scholars and/or other appropriate departments to facilitate recruiting efforts as required.
  • Research and develop recruitment/posting strategies and sourcing solutions to identify candidates for current and future hiring needs
  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with department administrators and key stakeholders and external clients.
  • Interact and follow up with new hires on their inquiries and facilitate a smooth onboarding process.
  • Create and maintain job folders per HR compliance process.
  • Support talent specialist in attending job fairs and other hiring events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years’ experience recruiting and/or supporting talent acquisition efforts.
  • Previous experiences that include direct interface with hiring managers focusing on executing talent acquisition needs, internally and externally. 
  • Experience utilizing social media tools and resources to support sourcing and recruiting efforts.
  • The demonstrated knowledge base in recruiting to include familiarity with recruitment processes, effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to effectively prioritize and organize work activities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Commitment to inclusive hiring practices and the ability to support diversity in workforce recruitment and retention.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and applicant tracking system platforms.
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation with the ability to work across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with all organizational levels.
  • Strong appreciation for and demonstration of confidentiality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • HR Certification (PHR or SPHR)
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft HR Platform
  • Proficiency in using the ICIMS Talent Management Platform
