POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the general direction of the Manager, Informatics & Analytics, the Sr Informatics & Analytics Business Analyst will be responsible for supporting the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) data and analytics capacity that expands the university’s use of data as a strategic asset as well as various systems support needs. The successful candidate needs to have experience in statistical data analysis and visualization, an interest in improving public higher education, and the ability to communicate your findings to non-technical audiences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for systems support, implementation and ongoing maintenance of Administration and Finance (A&F) systems, including development of timelines for testing and training plans associated with system roll-out, future enhancements and upgrades.
  • Prepare, develop and deliver senior level ad-hoc reports; merge enterprise data with multiple sources of supplementary data, and perform significant reconciliation and interpretation to complete report.
  • Ensure data and reporting interoperability between PeopleSoft and other systems by creating and maintaining interfaces.
  • Responsible for developing queries and reports on PeopleSoft, Summit Oracle OBIEE, Tableau or other business intelligence platforms as instructed.
  • Assist in translating user requirements into system specifications and business processes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization to analyze, prioritize and document requirements to develop analysis or reports.
  • Assist in documenting campus level standards and procedures to ensure integrity of systems and data as well as Analytics Center of Excellence & Systems Support (ACES2)’s Data Governance standards.
  • Monitor systems for adherence to such standards and procedures.
  • Act as system administrator responsible for user account creation and maintenance; trouble-shoot accessibility issues from a business operations perspective.
  • Collaborate with A&F departments to troubleshoot system and data issues related to enterprise systems.
  • Develop reports to monitor data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness, including the oversight of review analysis of these reports for data integrity.
  • Work with systems analysts, report developers and data systems managers to conduct data analysis to make business recommendations in various business areas.
  • Facilitate user story/feature workshops to determine business feature requirements and work with other business analysts to create business requirement documentation (BRD).
  • Ensure feature requirements meet the definitions defined by the business unit the project is supporting.
  • Serve as liaison with IT, UITS and other departments to accomplish UMMS technological initiatives
  • Represent the Worcester campus in multi-campus and University wide systems projects
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in data and analytics in higher education or research institution
  • Solid knowledge and experience on Tableau, Oracle OBIEE, or other reporting tool
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions
  • Advanced proficiency in use of desktop productivity tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, relational databases and query writing
  • Ability to explain data analysis to non-technical audiences
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to details
  • Ability to work independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance or related field
  • Experience in healthcare higher education institutions
  • PeopleSoft and PeopleSoft queries experience
