GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

In this role you will be assisting our Quality Control Microbiology group with one or more activities related to environmental monitoring, water testing, and product support for vaccines and/or therapeutic monoclonal antibodies. You will gain experience of working in a GMP regulated environment and will learn how the environment in which a product is manufactured contributes to the overall product quality as regulated by the FDA to ensure that safe and effective vaccines and biologics are produced

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct regular laboratory housekeeping duties such as autoclaving, maintaining lab cleanliness and supply inventory.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers and disinfectants.
  • Assist with lab administrative tasks such as data entry and archiving documents.
  • Sample collection and preparation and testing according to SOPs, collecting and analyzing data, documenting results on in-process assay forms and/or LIMS system

You will obtain hands on training with techniques that are widely used in biopharmaceutical industry, such as:

  • Environmental monitoring, water testing, bioburden testing, endotoxin testing, TOC and Chemistry Testing
  • cGLP (current Good Laboratory Practice) and cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice), LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
  • Data analysis and trending

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in progress or Technical Training certificate or Associate’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or related discipline. Knowledge of basic microbiology is preferred.
  • Hands on experience in a biology or microbiology laboratory.  Ability to use a micropipette, and use aseptic technique in a sterile lab environment.
  • Ability to be responsible for conducting routine laboratory tasks that are critical to successful department operation.
  • Excellent written documentation and laboratory organizing skills.  Ability to follow oral and written procedures precisely.
