SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Research Associate I, Process Development – Downstream is part of a team charged with the development of downstream processes for monoclonal antibodies (mAb), recombinant proteins and viral vectors. This position will participate in all aspects of downstream process development including but not limited to lysis/primary recovery, clarification, chromatography, and formulation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop robust, scalable, purification processes for mAb, recombinant proteins and viral vectors.
  • Assist with the analysis of data in Excel and DOE software
  • May contribute to protocols, project summaries and technical reports. 
  • Maintain reagent and equipment inventories, orders supplies and cleans laboratory areas.
  • Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment and departmental specific equipment.
  • Oversee buffer preparation and packing columns.
  • Ensure that timely and accurate documentation is maintained per cGLPs.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as required. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in chemical engineering, biochemical/biological engineering, cell/molecular biology, or biochemistry (or related fields) with 0 – 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge on protein purification and hands on experience with chromatography systems (AKTA).
  • Working knowledge on scale-up principles.
  • Ability to recognize, troubleshoot, and solve problems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Work effectively as a member of a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
