POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Director of Business Solutions Architecture will be the primary driver of technology project design at Commonwealth Medicine, which includes leading the development of enterprise solutions for client proposals, designing a technology review work-intake process for new demand, and owning the enterprise architecture program deliverables. This position will lead the technical evaluation and selection of technologies, participate in RFP creation and evaluations where appropriate, and define standard reference architectures for client projects. The Director of Business Solutions Architecture participates/leads technical solution design and cost estimation of IT projects, serves as a futurist for IT systems and keeps abreast of new innovative trends

This role will work closely with key stakeholders across IT as well as the business strategy and BRM teams to deliver next generation capabilities and ensure IT projects are delivered according to enterprise IT standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  •  Design, implement, and govern enterprise architecture and technical roadmaps in close collaboration and partnership with business, application, data, and security leaders
  • Develop solution desk process to review new business demand and identity technology solutions
  • Drive architecture governance where needed, including approving technology solutions
  • Maintain consistency of architectural principles across systems and applications
  • Provide functional direction to IT application development to ensure technical solution designs align with enterprise architecture standards and principles
  • Ensuring compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities, and technology directions, setting strategies, policies, standards and practices
  • Ensuring that designed or reviewed solutions conform to architectural requirements such as scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability and security
  • Looking years ahead to consider the long-term consequences for the enterprise when choosing a technical direction, proposing a technology investment, proposing harmonization of the environments, proposing simplification opportunities, or advising a business leader on strategic issues
  • Addressing technical debt by guiding and coaching delivery teams on both avoiding new debt and removing old debt. Works with business leaders to understand the implications of technical debt and helps guide them in supporting the delivery teams to address it.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10-12 years of industry experience in a complex global organization with, 5-7 years of experience in business solutions architecture
  • BS degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Proven experience across multiple business areas and multiple technologies with a well-rounded background in applications, software, databases, middleware, etc.
  • Proven experience in future state architecture, taking business to the next level, creating competitive advantage to the business
  • Proven experience leading large, complex scale projects
  • Good understanding of the architectural principles of cloud based platforms including SaaS, PaaS, multitenancy, multi-tiered infrastructure, etc.
  • Experience with large scale Salesforce CRM, Heroku and Force.com solutions
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of cyber security, frameworks, incident management, operations and application security best practices
  • Experience with data management and data governance best practices
  • Exposure to modern digital transformation technologies such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotic Process Automation
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive results
  • Desire to make an impact, manage multiple tasks, and shift priorities quickly
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to travel locally

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with technology solutions in the health care industry
