POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Vice Chancellor for Communications or designee, the graphic designer/presentation specialist will be charged with supporting, advancing, enhancing and elevating institutional-wide and executive-level communications and branding by leveraging a diverse and comprehensive portfolio of tools, resources, technologies, software programs and media platforms.
Working collaboratively with Office of Communications as well as the Office of the Chancellor, the Graphic Designer/Presentation Specialist will be uniquely positioned to impact content creation, brand recognition and communications across the UMMS enterprise. This position will be charged with transforming the packaging and delivery of UMMS content and for spearheading the creation of a new enterprise-wide communications “tool kit” that will include, among other tools, new or improved communications templates, visual aids, software programs and branding resources. A particular focus will be given to presentation design, development and frameworks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design and/or contribute to the creation of clear, compelling and professional communications tools and visual templates that reflect and reinforce UMMS’s dynamic, innovative and entrepreneurial spirit;
- Partner with Office of Communications and the Office of the Chancellor to develop new branding elements and features for executive-level presentations and publications;
- Collaborate in the creative process by organizing and arranging content into visually stimulating and appealing layouts and designs that enrich and elevate the brand, profile and reputation of the institution;
- Leverage the full array of graphic design software programs and platforms to design and produce expertly crafted, original design features; and
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Communications or designee.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field
- 3-5 years of professional experience in graphic design, advertising, brand management or a related field (experience in higher education, healthcare or life sciences is preferred)
- Demonstrated mastery of presentation design and expertise in leveraging new and innovative software platforms and/or programs to advance public relations goals
- Knowledge of front-end web design and development
- Experience managing multiple and varied projects simultaneously in order to meet ambitious deadlines and achieve short- and long-term goals
- Exceptional creativity, ingenuity and innovation to identify and implement new and novel communications and graphic design solutions
- High degree of emotional intelligence, excellent interpersonal skills, and personal resiliency to engage collaboratively and constructively with senior leadership and to garner support from key stakeholders on timely assignments or strategic projects
- Commitment to best practices and to promoting a collegial, inclusive and collaborative work environment; and
- Ability to work individually or as part of a cross-functional team.
