GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Major Gift Officer for grateful patients and clinician engagement will collaborate with department chairs and clinical leadership to develop funding priorities and implement fundraising programs needed to sustain robust major gift ($25k+) support from patients, families, and members of the community.


The Major Gift Officer will build and manage a portfolio of 120 to 150 major gift prospects with a focus on those individuals with a potential of $25,000 or more and will work with physicians and volunteers to identify and qualify new major gift prospective donors. This position will play a key role in building and maintaining the clinician engagement in philanthropy program with an emphasis on securing physician referrals of grateful patients.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and manage a prospect portfolio of 120 - 150 donor prospects
  • Plan and implement cultivation and stewardship strategies to motivate donors
  • Solicit contributions of $25,000 or more
  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Advancement or designee to continue to develop a prospect pool for a specific service line
  • Responsible for identifying potential donors, creating donor strategies and meeting activity goals
  • Work closely with other members of the advancement staff, the faculty and senior administration to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individual prospects
  • Fulfill campaign responsibilities, as assigned, to raise support for designated priorities
  • Perform other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of successful fundraising or related experience
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of computerized databases and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations
  • Ability to occasionally work nights and/or weekends
