GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the general direction of the Budget Director or designee, the Budget Financial Analyst II performs various financial duties.  Primary duties include entering, monitoring and reporting on department budgets and expenditures utilizing financial systems as well as other sources of financial data.  Other duties include special projects and financial analyses as needed.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Completion and maintenance of departmental budgets, including entry into the financial records system;
• Preparation of departmental budget reviews;
• Monitoring and analysis of budgets on an ongoing basis;
• Day-to-day monitoring of department spending vs. budget;
• Extensive use of personal and mainframe computers for data gathering, verifying, processing and analysis;
• Assists in the development of new computerized data systems and improvement of existing systems to support primary responsibilities of the Budget Office;
• Interfaces with other finance and administrative departments as well as operational departments;
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
• 3 years in financial reporting, analysis, budgeting or related experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills needed to present or communicate effectively with all levels of management
• Ability to work independently according to priority and current projects.
