The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan) seeks a board-certified or board- eligible adult psychiatrist to serve as an Attending Psychiatrist for a Department of Mental Health operated mental health center. Candidates interested in either full-time or part-time work will be considered.
The selected candidate will be recommended for a UMass Chan faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor based on qualifications. Academic Opportunities:
- Provide supervision to psychiatry fellows, psychiatry residents, and medical students.
- Access departmental support for leadership development, research, and other academic pursuits through various UMass Chan–sponsored programs.
- Participate in a variety of continuing medical education (CME) activities, including grand rounds, journal clubs, law and psychiatry lectures, and DMH-sponsored training courses, workshops, and events.
We seek an inspired clinician, committed to the recovery model of care. Ideal candidates will possess both a depth and breadth of adult psychiatric experience and commitment to public sector psychiatry.
- Provide direct clinical care to adult patients under the supervision of the Facility Medical Director.
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team and participate in regular clinical and risk consultation meetings, as well as quality and performance improvement initiatives.
- Be responsible for the admission and discharge of patients who meet appropriate DMH criteria.
- Be assigned to a unit by the Facility Medical Director and assume overall responsibility for the care of patients on the assigned treatment team. This includes ensuring each patient receives a comprehensive assessment, accurate diagnostic formulation, appropriate problem list, and an interdisciplinary treatment plan, along with ongoing monitoring, evaluation, consultation, and collaboration as needed to ensure patient safety and appropriate care.
- Lead the assigned Treatment Team and delegate responsibilities to team members in alignment with their disciplines and the goals of the treatment plan.
