GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Disability Evaluation Services the Sr. Director of Disability Evaluation Services (DES) is responsible for all aspects of management of DES State or Federal services contracts, including providing for client relationship management, leadership, planning and direction of all aspects of the contract and assist with DES related business, academic and research activities in order to ensure the integrity and effectiveness of DES programs and services.  The Sr. Director is responsible for strategic planning, organizational development, new and existing program evaluation related to the contract, interface with DES customers, identifying and driving business process improvements.  The Sr. Director assists with  the development and implementation of marketing and sales efforts as required to meet existing and new business goals. The Sr. Director also contributes to ForHealth Consulting initiatives and development efforts aimed at supporting the ForHealth Consulting strategic plan and vision.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with Strategic Growth & Business Development and Marketing in identifying new business leads, targeting specific opportunities, participating in the acquisition of new business, and maintaining fruitful relationships with existing clients.
  • Leads strategic planning initiatives within DES and ensures these plans are consistent with and support ForHealth Consulting and UMCMS larger strategic direction and goals.
  • Manages and oversees day to day clinical and administrative operations of the Contract. Ensures that DES and its programs are functioning within regulatory, legal and contractual requirements.
  • Meets periodically with other business units whose service offerings are disability-related to cross-fertilize new ideas and position ForHealth Consulting for larger opportunities involving disabled populations.
  • Represents ForHealth Consulting and UMCMS at client meetings, develops and maintains productive collegial relationships with existing client agencies and designated client contacts.  Works collaboratively with clients to identify and meet their needs and ensure effective work processes.
  • Assists in negotiating contractual terms with applicable State or Federal agencies and negotiating service contracts with other business partners.
  • Provides DES and ForHealth Consulting executive leadership with regular updates, as requested, regarding DES operations, budgets, and business activities.
  • Oversees development and maintenance of quality improvement programs to document DES effectiveness through ongoing quality assurance and program evaluation initiatives, including setting and tracking attainment of performance goals, as appropriate.
  • Oversees maintenance of program efficiency and effectiveness, including evaluating and considering alternative workflows and processes to improve services.
  • Establishes and implements performance improvement programs to improve specific areas of DES service delivery.
  •  Oversees development of training programs and initiatives for new employees and retraining for existing employees in order to ensure maintenance and enhancement of required knowledge and skill sets for effective job performance.
  • Oversees ongoing evaluation, planning and implementation of DES information technology functions and solutions.
  • Ensures DES has appropriate information technology tools and automation to support business process improvement, best leverage staffing and support the maintenance and growth of business.
  • Ensures DES has appropriate designated staff to address data security and compliance needs of the organization, ensuring compliance with relevant rules, regulations and ISA/contractual obligations.
  • Provides leadership in helping DES staff understand how to promote DES and ForHealth Consultings strategic goals in their own positions and duties.
  • Working with the management team, establishes and enforces departmental policies.
  • Directs program budgeting and financial forecasting. Prepares and presents budget and operations reports as required for senior management.
  • Works with Marketing and other ForHealth Consulting departments as appropriate to identify, pursue and develop new business lines and opportunities; strategizes best way to sell additional services to existing clients
  • Complies with health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Ensures implementation and maintenance of systems and procedures to safeguard the security and confidentiality of personal health information and business documents and intelligence consistent with UMass rules and state and federal regulations.
  • Attends and participates in DES, ForHealth Consulting, and UMCMS meetings as required.
  • Provides leadership to ForHealth Consulting initiatives in areas outside of disability consistent with the development goals of the enterprise and as requested by executive management.
  • Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters in business, Health Care, or other health related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of progressive clinical or management experience
  • Experience in the application of state and federal Medicaid and Medicare rules and regulations.
  • Experience in business and program development and marketing preferred.
  • Ability to travel frequently to offsite locations.

At UMass Chan Medical School, final base salary offers are determined based on a combination of factors, including your skills, education, and relevant experience. We also consider internal equity to ensure fair and consistent compensation across our teams.

Please note that the range provided reflects the full base salary range for this position. Offers are typically made within the midrange to allow for future growth and development within the role.
