GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

Under the direct supervision of the assigned manager, the High School Intern is responsible for basic tasks to support a designated department.  These tasks may be administrative or research oriented, depending on the department.  For research-based departments, the High School Intern will be responsible for basic laboratory tasks.   Specific job responsibilities will vary by department but may include information gathering, data entry, writing, editing and/or laboratory work.  This is a temporary, non-benefitted role.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Clerical:

  • Perform a variety of routine administrative duties
  • Perform data entry
  • Conduct research to assist other team members
  • Assist with the creation of reports and data analysis
  • Perform other duties as required

Research:

  • Perform basic experiments according to written protocols
  • Perform normal laboratory maintenance tasks
  • Prepare laboratory media and solutions.
  • Operate research equipment (i.e. scintillation counters, microscopes, centrifuges, balances) and record results
  • Perform basic library searches, reading and copying relevant materials.
  • Perform data entry
  • Perform other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • High School student or recent High School graduate
  • Basic analytical and communication skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to collect and record information from a wide variety of sources
  • Ability to use standard office tools and software (MS-Office)
  • Must be reliable and able to set consistent work hours

Please note that the range provided reflects the full base salary range for this position. Offers are typically made within the midrange to allow for future growth and development within the role.
