Postdoctoral Associate, Lab of Viral Replication, Pathogenesis, and Immunity, UMass Medical School

Candidates are invited to apply for a post-doctoral position to study pathogenic viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, Ebola virus, and HIV-1. Research topics include basic mechanisms of virus replication, interaction between the virus and host factors, virus evolution, innate immune detection, gene function and chromatin profiling in primary human immune cells. Please see recent publications at: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=luban+j&sort=date

Qualifications: Education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, virology, or bioinformatics, or M.D. with equivalent experience
  • Evidence of creativity and excitement about applying skills towards solving biological problems
  • Highly collegial, works well as a team member, and embraces diversity as an essential strength of research
  • Excellent analytical skills and independent judgement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous record keeping, proficiency with databases, and computational skills
