The Sato Lab at UMass Med is seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral fellow to join our team at the forefront of gene editing and cell therapy research. Our research group is focusing on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying rare diseases and autoimmune disorders. Through innovative approaches such as gene editing and cell therapy, we aim to develop novel therapeutic strategies to combat these conditions and improve patient outcomes.

Project Highlights:

  • Utilize CRISPR gene editing techniques
  • Engineer and explore gene/cell therapies for disease treatment
  • Investigate the genetic basis of rare skeletal and connective tissue diseases
  • Unravel mechanisms underlying autoimmune disorders
  • Drive and execute cutting-edge research to advance the state of the art in gene therapy
  • Establish novel screening cell line systems and execute multiple screenings
  • Prepare and publish scientific manuscripts under the direction of PI
  • Mentor junior lab members under the direction of PI
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ph.D. in Genetics, Cell Biology, skeletal biology, or a related field to the project highlights
  • Experience with gene editing techniques (CRISPR preferred)
  • Strong background in cell culture and in vitro assays
  • Experience with omics analyses such as proteomics by MS and transcriptome by RNA seq
  • Strong data organization, management, and analysis skills.
  • Excellent oral presentation and scientific paper writing skills.
  • Excellent collaborative skills with multidisciplinary teams to design and execute experiments.
