This internship program will begin Monday June 3rd and will end Friday, August 9th. The pay is $16-$17 an hour and the position is expected to be full-time over those 10 weeks. This will be a hybrid internship with mandatory in person sessions that are part of the program once a week. 


About Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) at UMass Chan Medical School 

The Emerging Professionals Summer Internship Program (EPSIP) is a paid internship experience for talented college students.  Individuals historically underrepresented in STEM, health science and medicine are strongly encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to students that identify from one of the following underrepresented groups in STEM, health science and medicine:  Black/African Americans, Hispanic or Latinx, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and other Pacific Islanders, individuals with a disability or the first in their family to attend college, are also strongly encourage to apply.

General Summary of Position 

ForHealth Consulting is seeking an Intern to join Solutions Engineering team in its Digital Solutions department. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual who is passionate for creating intuitive websites, front-end development with a focus on User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with dynamic group, and an opportunity to work cross-functionally in ForHealth Consulting at UMass Chan Medical School.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of a team, you will design and develop ADA compliant, responsive websites.
  • Review existing websites, provide feedback on areas for improvement from UI and UX perspective.
  • Collaborate with senior front-end developers and rest of the solutions engineering team, working on existing as well as new projects.
  • Participate in business user meetings to understand the requirements, demonstrate and review prototypes, applications for feedback and enhancements.
  • Scan websites using tools like Siteimprove for Accessibility, and fix any issues identified.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in computer science or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and familiarity with advanced frameworks like Bootstrap, ReactJS.
  • Work experience with Content Management Systems (COMS) like WordPress, Optimizely.
  • Familiarity with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards for Accessible Design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a college student currently enrolled in a 2 or 4 year program or recent college graduate within 2 years.
