Overview:

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

Under the general direction of the Director, Library Services or designee, the National Public Health Coordination Office (NPHC) Manager administratively and independently manages all aspects of the NPHCO. The Manager hires and manages staff, monitors and controls budgetary expenditures, recruits partners, oversees program evaluation and serves as the liaison from the NPHCO to the National Library of Medicine, National Network Office (NNO).

Responsibilities:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the NPHCO
  • Recruits, communicates with, and supports all types of partners forming the strategic alliance
  • Oversees, monitors and approves expenditures
  • Oversees the NPCHO education, communications, marketing, resource allocation and evaluation strategy and implementation plans
  • Cultivates collaborative initiatives and serves as the primary contact between the NCPHO, NN/LM Regions and Centers, other National Library of Medicine (NLM) agents, and government agencies.
  • Recruits, hires, schedules, disciplines, and evaluates NPHCO staff
  • Responsible for oversight and implementation of program evaluation.
  • Represents the NCPHO on the National Network Steering Committee
  • Responsible for all reporting and communication to the NLM and the NNO
  • Prepares and submits NPHCO grant proposal documents and works with the UMMS Office of Research for grant compliance, submission and reporting
  • Initiates and coordinates special projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Master’s degree in Library or Library Information Science or equivalent degree
  • 5 years of experience in academic library or public health setting with at least 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to plan and implement innovative services
  • Demonstrated successful managerial skills with the ability to organize and direct staff, manage complex projects, and lead teams.
  • Prior project management experience
  • Evidence of excellent oral and written communication in teaching, publishing, networking, reporting, and outreach efforts
  • Demonstrated communication in networking and outreach effort, listening, negotiation, diplomacy, team, professional writing, planning, management, and implementation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage successfully in outreach and networking
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations
