Postdoctoral scientist

We offer an opportunity at a cutting-edge research laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at UMass Chan Medical School. We are seeking an energetic and well-organized postdoctoral fellow for Dr. Josué Flores Kim laboratory (floreskimlab.com) to aid in studies of how bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae build their cell envelope to grow and divide. A key goal of the lab is to uncover mechanisms that will facilitate the discovery of next generation antibiotics targeting drug-resistant bacterial infections. We encourage applications from prospective and highly motivated postdoctoral fellows in the process of finishing their PhDs or with a Ph.D. degree awarded within the past 1-2 years; having a background in microbiology, bacterial genetics, molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related field; and excellent communication skills.
