Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator and Manager, the Drug Court Consultant Pharmacist will function as a member of a team consisting of researchers, legal personnel, and clinicians, to assist individuals with addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions in legal settings to access and remain in pharmacotherapy in the community. This position will involve providing consultation around medication management, establishing relationships and acting as a liaison between community providers and legal agencies, providing medical education and training around use of medications to treatment addiction and mental illness, conduct medication management reviews, and monitor compliance with treatment plan and medication treatment.

• Provides training, education, and support to research and legal professional around medication management and treatment.
• Attend weekly team meetings to discuss progress of individuals involved with the legal system and presenting with substance use and mental health disorders.
• Collaborates with and serve as a liaison to community-based treatment providers.
• Performs medication management and development of treatment plans.
• Provides real-time drug therapy recommendations to providers.
• Provides medication counseling, medical referrals, and appropriate self-care treatment recommendations to patients.
• Prepares and submit pertinent activity reports.
• Monitors patients’ compliance to treatment, adjust medication recommendations as necessary, and inform team members of patients’ progress.
• Assists with research related tasks and provide expertise in grant applications.
• Participates in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Eligibility for licensure or current pharmacist license in good standing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE
2 – 4 years of relevant work experience in addictions or mental health related settings.
Knowledge of medications used to treat substance use and mental health disorders.
Ability to travel to off-site locations is required.

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE
Prior experience conducting research.
Prior experience providing training and education in formal settings.
