GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Director or designee, the Software Engineering Manager is responsible for providing technical leadership and mentoring a team of 10+ talented engineers in the engineering team of the IT Department of ForHealth Consulting, which is dedicated to a broad variety of development efforts.  This position calls for an innovative and results oriented leader who is passionate about technology and able to thrive and succeed in a fast paced environment. The Software Development Manager will work within tightly integrated teams that use a Scrum Framework to actively deliver value and positive outcomes for our clients. The position will also work with many systems and technologies with a strong emphasis on web-based application/product development and utilize technologies such as C#/.NET, MS SQL, and JavaScript frameworks.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and lead assigned staff. In collaboration with the director, hire, train, rate performance, and take disciplinary action. Provide technical leadership and mentor software developers.
  • Technical ownership of many of ForHealth Consulting software products and applications
  • Contribute in the architecture, design and technology direction of our products
  • Hands-on development with C#/.NET, JavaScript, SQL Server and Web Technologies
  • Responsible for development and delivery in an agile environment
  • Implement best practices for software development including unit testing, code reviews, tracking of code coverage and other metrics
  • Participate and guide teams for better automated testing and continuous integration
  • Work closely with other members of the management team to guide and support ForHealth Consulting product development.
  • Participate in building world class software development capabilities that will lead the way in creating significant improvements in ForHealth Consulting technology.
  • Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 7 years of experience in design, delivery, and implementation of business applications and/or technology solutions in an integrated multi-vendor environment are essential
  • 3 years of management/supervisory responsibility for the development, implementation, and support of software applications/products
  • Up to date hands-on development experience with C#/.NET, MS SQL and web technologies
  • Design and architecture experience for web-based scalable multi-tier systems
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle and thorough understanding of Software design principles
  • Must have experience with Agile Development methodologies; preferably Scrum
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead high performing teams of talented developers
  • Effective verbal and written communication competence, including demonstrated experience in presentation to diverse audiences
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current hands-on experience with latest web technologies
  • 8+ years of experience with C#/.NET/ASP.NET/MVC
  • 5+ years experience with MS SQL
  • 3+ years of recent experience managing and mentoring software developers
  • Experience with state health services agencies and working directly with user programs and program development would be highly beneficial
