GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Deputy Managing Director, Solutions Engineering and Operations or designee, the Manager, Salesforce Solutions is responsible for providing technical leadership and mentoring to a team of 10+ talented Salesforce administrators and developers working as integral members of the Digital Solutions department of Commonwealth Medicine (CWM) at UMass Chan Medical School. This position calls for an innovative and results oriented leader who is passionate about technology and able to thrive and succeed in a fast paced environment. The Software Development Manager will work within tightly integrated teams that use an iterative and incremental development model to actively deliver value and positive outcomes for our Business Partners and Clients. This Manager will work with cloud technologies, platform/software as a service platforms, relational databases and programming languages following agile development practices.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage and lead assigned staff. In collaboration with the director, hire, train, rate performance, and take disciplinary action. Provide technical leadership and mentor Salesforce administrators, Salesforce developers and other Solution developers.

Evaluate and advise Salesforce solution options, design technical architecture solutions, develop proof-of-concepts aligning business needs to demonstrate value and drive digital transformation.

Technical ownership of a portfolio of CWM’s software products and applications.

Contribute in the architecture, design and technology direction of our solutions.

Hands-on development with the relevant tools or platforms of respective applications.

Responsible for development and delivery in an agile environment.

Implement best practices for software development including unit testing, code reviews, tracking of code coverage and other metrics.

Participate in and guide teams for better automated testing and continuous integration.

Work closely with other members of the management team to guide and support CWM product development.

Participate in building world class software development capabilities that will lead the way in creating significant improvements in CWM’s technology.

Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degere in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, a related field or equivalent experience.

7 years of experience in design, delivery, and implementation of business applications and/or technology solutions in an integrated multi-vendor environment are essential

3 years of management/supervisory responsibility for the development, implementation, and support of software applications/products

3 years of architect experience in Salesforce ecosystem, implementing third party app exchange packages and integrating with other enterprise systems

3 years of experience in building Community and Partner portals

Up to date on technology trends, hands-on development experience

Design and architecture experience in building modular and scalable multi-tier systems

Deep understanding of secure software development lifecycle and thorough understanding of software design principles

Must have experience with agile development methodologies

Demonstrated ability to manage and lead high performing teams of talented developers

Effective verbal and written communication competence, including demonstrated experience in presentation to diverse audiences

Ability to travel to off-site locations

Salesforce administration, architecture related certifications

Programming experience using languages like C#, Python

Experience with relational databases like SQL Server, Oracle

Working experience with AWS services

Experience with state health services agencies and working directly with user programs and program development would be highly beneficial
