GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

In this role you will be assisting our Cell Culture group to develop gene therapy production processes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct regular laboratory housekeeping duties such as autoclaving glassware, cleaning hoods and incubators, and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies.
• Perform culture experiments from shaker, spinner, and small reactors using proper aseptic technique.
• Sample cultures for automated and manual cell counting using proper aseptic technique.

You will obtain hands on training with cell culture techniques that are widely used in biopharmaceutical industry, such as:

• Small- and mid-scale bioreactor operations
• Manual and automated Cell Counting
• Determining metabolic profiles using the Nova Bioanalyzer

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in progress or Technical Training certificate or Associate’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or related discipline. Knowledge in cell culture principles is preferred.
• Hands on experience in a biology or chemistry laboratory.  Ability to calculate molar solutions, use a micropipette, and to use aseptic technique in a sterile lab environment.
• Ability to be responsible for conducting routine laboratory tasks that are critical to successful department operation.
• Excellent written documentation and laboratory organizing skills.  Ability to follow oral and written procedures precisely.
