GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction to the Manager of Network Engineering or designee, the Network Administration Engineer II is an experienced career role in the Network Administration area supporting local and wide area networks in a multi platform, protocol, and operating system environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Under the direction of the Manager of Network Engineering, provides third level support to end users
  • Installs and maintains local and wide area networks in a multi protocol environment
  • Monitors network functions and performance
  • Involved in the implementation of subsystems
  • Acknowledge and resolve user service requests utilizing the service request management system
  • Broad application of standard principles, concepts and techniques, plus working knowledge of related fields
  • Resolves a diverse range of complex problems, uses judgment within defined policies
  • Contributes to the development of organizational goals and objectives
  • Frequent cross organization and outside customer contact
  • Represents the organization on projects
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years work experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate should have a solid understanding of basic ip-addressing constructs such as CIDR IP ranges and subnetting.
  • Understanding of basic Layer 2 technologies such as Vlans, IEEE 802.1.q, LACP protocol, and switch to switch port-channel configuration and setups.
  • Worked with deploying and maintaining routing protocol configurations ideally hands-on experience with static routing, and operational experience with dynamic routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Some experience with load balancer technology either in the cloud or with leading industry providers is desirable
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (ansible, Cloud Formation, Terraform, ARM Templates)
  • Administration or setup of next generation firewalls from industry standard solutions from vendors like Palo Alto Networks or Checkpoint.
  • Some experience with Public Cloud providers specifically AWS and Azure. Understanding of AWS Virtual Private Networks and Azure VNETs as well as ways to interconnect for applications and access back to on-premises data centers via Internet based VPNS or Direct links.
