POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the direction of the Director or designee, the ServiceNow Web Developer, Sr functions in all phases of ServiceNow application development, design, architecture, implementation, and administration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Build, design and implement new modules or functionalities for all ServiceNow instances.
  • Consult with stakeholders to understand the business needs in order to implement effective solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze the University’s ServiceNow architecture for potential enhancements or improvements.
  • Provide support for multiple teams looking to embed their workflows into ServiceNow.
  • Participate in the evaluation and research of third-party software and conduct feasibility studies to determine appropriate solutions for integrations into ServiceNow.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new trends within ServiceNow and new integrations or advancements that will improve the University’s ServiceNow instance.
  • Facilitate code reviews, support business processes, and participate in problem analysis and consultation.
  • Work independently within guidelines, provide technical consulting on complex projects considering equipment capacity, limitations, operating time and desired results required.
  • Enhance and make recommendations to Agile/ITIL/SDLC methodology.
  • Work directly with the user and/or vendors to articulate and document user application needs.
  • Design, develop, and implement, software solutions for UMMS IT customers.
  • Develop and maintain proper technical and user documentation for each system in a consistent and structured manner.
  • Identify and learn emerging technologies by participating in formal training when possible and by independent self-teaching and tutorials.
  • Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:               

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Experience with object-oriented/scripting languages and full stack development: UI, middle-tier, and backend.
  • Strong object-oriented analysis, design and programming skills
  • Experience building and consuming web services and API’s.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational database management systems, SQL coding and Object Relational Mapping tools such as Entity Framework.
  • Experience working in / knowledge of Agile/Scrum framework.
  • Experience using modern development processes/tools and developing through the complete Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years supporting and developing within ServiceNow.
  • 2+ years of ServiceNow administration.
  • Scripting or programming experience including JavaScript, Jelly, Glide, HTML, XML and CSS.
  • Experience in administration of a ServiceNow instance including the management of users, groups and roles, ACLs, business rules, workflows, UI actions, UI policies, dictionary, and catalog items.
  • Experience or certification in ITSM (ITIL) process, including but not limited to Incident Management, Change Management, Problem, Asset Management, CMDB Management, Service Catalog, Cloud Management, and Problem Management modules.
  • Experience in implementation and management of Orchestration and Discovery within ServiceNow.
  • ServiceNow Admin and/or Developer Certification preferred.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and services.
