POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Administrative Director and the Associate Dean, the Graduate Medical Education Assistant Director is responsible for administrative functions of the Office of Graduate Medical Education (OGME) related to the program and institutional accreditation, data management and analysis, financial management, and resident employment and support. The Assistant Director supports the evaluation and review of GME programs and compliance with institutional and program accreditation requirements.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

ACCREDITATION AND COMPLIANCE

  • Monitors ACGME requirements and ensure UMMS programs remain in compliance with Institutional Requirements and Common Program Requirements through the development and implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Prepares Special Program Review documents as needed to address problems that are identified.
  • Assists Residency Program Directors and Administrative Director with preparation of documentation for ACGME site visits.
  • Assists with development and implementation of Institutional Review Document.
  • Assists with Medical School and Medical Center-wide surveys (e.g. JCAHO, LCME) relative to Graduate Medical Education.
  • Monitor resident licensing issues and support institutional and program responses.

PROGRAM AND RESIDENT SUPPORT

  • Assists with the development and implementation of GME policies and procedures.
  • Provides technical support for resident and fellow recruitment activities.
  • Maintains GME Internet and Library Resource Guide Content.  
  • Assists individual residency programs in their implementation of evaluation systems.
  • Assists in orienting new residency program staff.
  • Staffs UMass GME Committee and Chief Residents' Committee meetings.

DATA MANAGEMENT, EVALUATION AND REPORTING

  • Coordinates graduate medical education management information systems (GME TRACK, NRMP, WEB ADS and ERAS). Supports residency program participation in these systems.
  • Supports GME utilization of electronic evaluation system.
  • Collects and analyzes graduate medical education data and utilizes information in ongoing planning and program development.
  • Generates information and reports on Graduate Medical Education as requested by the Medical School and Clinical System.

BUDGET AND FINANCE

  • Supports the development and monitoring of annual Medical Center and Medical School graduate medical education budgets
  • Provides funding data and Medicare DME and IME reimbursement information for UMass Memorial Medical Center and other affiliated teaching hospitals.
  • Supports analysis of residency-related costs to UMMS and UMMMC relative to training and the provision of services by residents.

Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Academic Administration or Health Care Administration, or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of managerial and administrative experience in a health care or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated organization, analytical, communication, and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and work well with professionals in varied organizational relationships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Strong knowledge of ACGME accreditation policies and procedures
