The University of Massachusetts Medical School, Department of Molecular, Cell and Cancer Biology, has an exciting opportunity available for a Post Doctoral Associate. 

 

Responsibilities:

The lab studies the expression and function of genes involved in Programmed Cell Death (Apoptosis), survival signaling and compensatory proliferation using Drosophila as a model system. The successful individual must be capable of conducting independent research projects in this scientific area under the supervision of the faculty member.

The selected candidate will be responsible for efficient planning and execution of research projects in consultation with the faculty member. Requires working with laboratory fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, which includes maintaining stocks, establishing stocks, setting up and scoring genetic crosses and genetic screens, dissecting and immunostaining tissues, and documentation of scientific data as necessary. Requires working with nucleic acids (molecular biology) and proteins. Must be able to develop and/or modify new techniques.

Required Qualifications:

A PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology or Genetics is required.
