GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Research RN I will assist in the delivery of coordinated comprehensive collaborative care for patients and families. The Research RN I will deliver care needs of patients including research study patients.
ADDITIONAL MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides outreach to caregivers of victim’s who have completed forensic interview, to determine needs for further medical evaluation
- Assist Clinical Nurse Specialist as medical advocate for patient and family to assist navigating systems
- Assist in chart review and additional documentation of history to inform medical evaluation without having to ask patient about assault details
- Provides families with information related to medical needs, Victim’s Compensation, victim services
- Under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist, provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet needs of the patient and family.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the patient within the framework established
- Coordinate patients, family, and specialty providers to include care for patients with complex care needs and coordination of equipment needs for patients and families,
- Contribute to the clinical outcomes database/registry and support related research efforts
- Assist with testing
- Refer to specialty providers for specific care and/or wraparound services
- Perform nursing assessments of patients according to protocol
- Schedule, perform, and/or coordinate all visits and procedures according to protocol requirements
- Review and abstract medical record information in a consistent manner, in accordance with patient care, study protocol, institutional, and HIPAA requirements
- Maintain annual clinical partner nurse compliance standards
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- RN with current registration to practice nursing in Massachusetts
- 3 years of relevant nursing experience
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and relevant computer software
- Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail is essential
- Ability to work in a team environment to facilitate the integrity of the study and its timely completion
