POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Web Design and Experience Manager is the front-end developer for multiple Commonwealth Medicine websites and digital platforms, from organization-specific websites to interfaces created for client-facing projects, as well as other digital communications tools as technology evolves. This role is a key member of the Marketing Communications team, contributing insight, expertise and best practices to design, develop, manage and strategize the optimal digital user experience.      

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop information architecture

  • Lead front-end development of Drupal websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Create interfaces utilizing user experience design concepts that showcase compelling website content and graphics, while maintaining usability and accessibility.                                          
  • Build and customize Drupal content management system environments.
  • Produce wireframes, visual design comps, user flows and interactive prototypes to explore ideas and document design decisions.
  • Use responsive design techniques to optimize websites across devices.

Maintain websites/digital platforms

  • Oversee the hosting environment for all Drupal sites, LAMP stack and Aquia Cloud.
  • Perform security, maintenance, and other key updates to digital platforms.
  • Evaluate functionality changes and new technologies to meet evolving organizational/client needs or in response to new concepts.
  • Manage website technology vendor relationships and subscriptions.

Search engine optimization direction

  • Conduct all search engine optimization activities.
  • Analyze all metrics from digital platforms and report results in engaging and easily understood deliverables

Liaison with UMMS IT

  • Collaborate when needed for web server and development support.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Level Degree in communications or information technology
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization and as part of a collaborative team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud.
