The Cantor lab focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms that underlie the pathogenesis of cancer-predisposition syndromes, such as results from mutations in the hereditary breast cancer and Fanconi anemia (FA) genes. In particular, we are exploring the contribution of defective replication to growth defects and cancer predisposition in FA. We employ quantitative proteomics to analyze DNA replication fork associated proteins and single molecule approaches to study DNA replication fork dynamics in response to stress.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or Genetics. Recent Ph.D. graduates or 1st year Postdoctoral Fellows who are committed to a dynamic career in science, with a strong background in DNA replication, DNA repair, and cancer biology are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in at least one (or more) of the following techniques is strongly desired: cell culture, Crispr/Cas9 genome editing, proteomics, and bioinformatics.

Our lab and department are dedicated to providing exemplary scientific opportunities supporting and enhancing the career prospects of postdoctoral associates.  These resources include a highly active Office for Postdoctoral Affairs and several opportunities for networking and interacting with colleagues in our field including attendance at local and international meetings. We are looking for motivated candidates who are creative and passionate about their research and the potential impact our findings can have on novel therapeutic strategies for cancer.

To apply please email a cover letter (with expected start date), CV, and the contact information of 3 references to Sharon Cantor, Ph.D, sharon.cantor@umassmed.edu
