GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Director, Anatomic Services, the Anatomical Gift Program Coordinator handles the recruitment and coordination of Donors for the Anatomical Gift Program in support of the broad spectrum of educational and clinical research missions of UMMS for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Recruitment of donors through educational presentations, promotional materials and other outreach programs.
  • Responds to all donor and/or donor family communications in a timely, professional manner.
  • Maintain HIPPA compliant records, (digital and/or paper, as appropriate) which facilitate the accurate of tracking of donors though all stages of the registration, donation, anatomic use and disposition process.
  • Responsible for required reporting to all local, state or federal agencies.
  • Preparation of a yearly summary of all activities for the chair of the Division of Translational Anatomy or his/her designee.
  • Preparation and presentation of regular updates, as requested, to the Anatomic Gift Program (AGP) oversight committee.
  • Works closely with the UMass Research Core Administration to develop a yearly budget and monitor financial performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Works closely with the UMass Research Core Administration to draft, implement and secure contracts with non-UMass entities utilizing the services of the Division of Translational Anatomy.
  • Coordinate the yearly UMass Anatomic Gift Memorial Program.
  • In conjunction with funeral home(s) and donor family requests, coordinate removal, transportation, and appropriate documentation of and receipt of acquired donation.
  • Carry a pager for 24/7 contact when a donation has come available and arrange appropriate pager coverage when not available
  • Under the direction of the director for anatomic services, coordinate donation use for UMass DSF Course, Summer Prosection Program, Advanced Anatomy courses, or other approved programs.
  • Coordinate requests for materials from other institutions
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in the funeral, anatomy, medical examiner, or other related industry.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing the donation and use of anatomic gifts.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communications skills, as well as sensitivity and empathy for donors and their families.
