GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the general direction of the Budget Director or designee, the Budget Financial Analyst III is generally responsible for completion of all phases of the budget cycle, including collection and review of information, preparation of packages for review and submission of budgets, analyzing and reporting on actual performance against the budgets, and developing and maintaining the necessary information resources (both computerized and non-computerized).  Also provides analysis and reporting on current and projected cash and fund balances and other ad-hoc financial analyses as required.

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generally responsible for the preparation of all annual budgets for both internal and external use
  • Develop & maintain databases for completing, summarizing, reviewing, tracking and reporting budget information at account, department and institutional levels
  • Gathering & preparation of background & historical information and budget packages for departmental budget completion
  • Assist departments in completion of budgets
  • Review & consolidate budgets submitted by departments
  • Gather information and prepare analyses for budget hearing packages for presentation to Chancellor/Dean and budget review committee
  • Completion of budget reporting packages (both internal and external), including Annual Operating budgets and State Spending Plan
  • Respond to requests from President’s office and other internal parties for financial and budget information & analyses
  • Maintain budget data on financial systems
  • Gathering, analyzing and reporting of information to monitor actual performance against budgets
  • Prepare analyses of current and projected cash and fund balances
  • Development and maintenance of PC based financial models for analysis of current and historical financial information
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • 5 years in financial reporting, analysis, budgeting or related experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills needed to present or communicate effectively with all levels of management
