Overview:

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

Under the general direction of the Associate Director or designee, the Technology/Communications Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, New England Region (N/LM NER) and the National Public Health Coordination Office (NPHCO) marketing and communications plan, and plans and coordinates the NER and NPHCO Technology Program. Serves as the technical liaison, for all areas, of the NN/LM NER and NPHCO. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the web presence for these two programs. The Coordinator troubleshoots technology questions from NPHCO partners including state Public Health department (PHD), libraries, NER Network members, and others.

Responsibilities:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Coordinate all aspects of the design, development and implementation of the NN/LM NER and the NPHCO program websites
  • Develop marketing/communications strategy for the NN/LM NER and the NPHCO to use in disseminating information about program goals, development, and events
  • Coordinate communication for the NN/LM NER and the NPHCO, including all aspects of the design, development and implementation of the newsletter, blog, and other communications materials
  • Serve as Liaison to NN/LM Web Services Technology Center
  • Provides information on basic NLM technology systems and services to NN/LM NER members
  • Develop and provide educational programs on technology trends for NN/LM NER members
  • Assist in the maintenance of state and regional library websites
  • Coordinate administration and maintenance of regional library e-mail discussion groups hosted by the New England Region and email contact lists for NPHCO
  • Provide technology support, troubleshooting for NPHCO partners (example: Public Health Departments) technology issues with respect to their Digital Library intranet site
  • Coordinate and provide support for New England Region Technology Awareness programs
  • Edit technology issues for the regional newsletter and writes other technology articles for publications
  • Solicit, collect, and organize information on technologies to serve needs of the NN/LM NER members
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Master’s degree in Library Science, Computer Science or Information Science or equivalent degree
  • 3 years of experience in a computer support environment in an academic health sciences, research or special library or equivalent
  • Ability to plan and implement innovative services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with web programming languages and tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated individual and team leadership skills
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations
