Overview:

 

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

 

Information Technology Engineering is a fast-pace, highly collaborative environment, with a professional staff devoted to building, connecting and supporting the next generation of software UMass Medical School will use. Internship projects will be supervised by Senior Software Engineers, Directors, and other IT staff, with the opportunity to interact with scientific researchers, physician faculty, and students in medicine, biomedical research and nursing.

 

The Software Developer Intern will help transition/migrate data currently living in our Service Catalog into a format/database that us compatible with Service Now. This data catalogs our servers, their operating environment, as well as identifying whom they belong to, what applications reside on them, and identifying customers.

Responsibilities:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Software development related to User Interface, Communications, Mobile applications and other areas.  Development is done mainly in C#, HTML, and JavaScript with other languages depending on project specifics.  
  • Implementation of internal tools, prototypes of new functionality, or other projects related to product development
  • Design, code development, unit and integration testing
  • Responsibilities vary from team to team, depending upon the nature of the role and the candidate's experience and interest
  • Collection and reclassification of data as well as map out the integration of our Asset Management system
Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates pursuing bachelor’s degree or recent graduates in finance, administration or business

  • Related experience preferred
  • Basic analytical and communication skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to collect and record information from a wide variety of sources
  • Must be reliable and able to set consistent work hours
  • Ability to use standard office tools and software (MS-Office)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Basic Programming skills
  • Familiar with Object Oriented programming
  • Experience with Web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS
  • Mobile (cross platform) development
  • Open source project contributions - a big plus
  • Social Media and Marketing
    • Help faculty with social media
  • Google Analytics support
  • Advanced programming
    • Google Cardboard development
    • Familiar with IoT, Arduino/Raspberry Pi development
    • Augmented Reality
  • Big Data
    • Visualization
    • Big data sets
